As of: Sunday 11 October 2026 (WITA)
MotoGP week in Mandalika is over, and the numbers are in. A record crowd came, hotels filled across most of Lombok, and the airport added dozens of flights. This wrap stands in for our Friday Market Pulse. It covers what happened on track, where visitors stayed, and what it means if you own or plan to buy a short-stay property near Kuta.
The race: Aprilia takes the top four
Marco Bezzecchi won the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia over 27 laps in 40:46.582. Raul Fernandez was second, 4.26 seconds back, racing with a broken finger from Saturday’s sprint crash. Jorge Martin was third and Ai Ogura fourth. It was the first time Aprilia has filled the top four places in MotoGP. Marc Marquez finished sixth, so Martin leads the championship again by two points (motogp.com, Motorsport.com).
The crowd: 157,875 over three days
Attendance from 9 to 11 October reached 157,875 (IDN Times NTB). That beats the 145,000 target and last year’s 140,324. Sports minister Erick Thohir called it the best edition yet (ANTARA). We covered the ticket sell-out in our early October market pulse and our MotoGP villa rental underwriting guide.
Rooms: Mandalika full, the rest of Lombok close behind
Hotels inside the Mandalika special economic zone hit 100% for race week. NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal said so on 6 October, and the NTB hotel association PHRI confirmed it on 9 October. Only a few homestays still had rooms (Kompas, ANTARA).
Demand spread well past the circuit. The provincial communications office gave these race-week figures (Radar NTB):
| Area | Race-week occupancy |
|---|---|
| Mandalika | Full (100%) |
| Senggigi | 100% |
| Mataram | 97% |
| East Lombok | 55% |
Senggigi came in higher than the 80 to 90% PHRI reported earlier in the week (Tribun Lombok). In Mataram, 3 and 4 star hotels averaged about 82%, and some reached 97%, according to the Mataram hotel association (ANTARA). East Lombok is still the soft spot.
Prices: peak season, but calm
The governor described room rates as “like peak season, but not too high.” That is calmer than the price spike at the first Mandalika race. PHRI says the 2022 rate-cap rule was scrapped, so the market set prices this year. It has received no price complaints. Most bookings came from domestic visitors, with foreign guests second.
Flights: 66 extra into Lombok
Lombok airport handled 66 extra flights for the event. That was 48 additional flights, 11 charters, 4 switched to bigger planes and 3 positioning flights. About 1,046 flight movements were expected between 5 and 15 October (ANTARA). Garuda and Citilink alone added 26 flights and 14,124 seats for 7 to 12 October (Kompas Money).
What it means for investors
When the hotels filled, visitors moved into locally owned homestays. That overflow is the clearest sign of unmet short-stay demand around Kuta and Mandalika during big events.
Supply is coming too. ITDC, the state company that runs Mandalika, keeps building hotels in the zone. After the race, Erick Thohir said he wants more hotels, a golf course, a jogging track, tennis and padel courts in the Mandalika special economic zone (ANTARA). More facilities could bring more events and more reasons to visit outside race week. They also mean more rooms competing for the same guests.
On money, treat the headline number with care. The state tourism holding InJourney is targeting almost Rp5 trillion in economic impact (Bisnis). That is a target. The national statistics agency BPS is still surveying the impact before, during and after the event, so a measured figure comes later (Tribun Lombok).
For a rental model, race week is a strong spike on top of your base occupancy. Plan your normal months on their own numbers. If you are comparing areas, Mandalika, Senggigi and Mataram all filled this year. East Lombok did not.
